Breed Information! Whoa, dang. Look at all that! We’ve got a snazzy bullet system and everything, so check it out. These are the only breeds you can choose from. No gray wolves, etc. Hybrids will only be allowed if a litter is born IC. Personality traits are general guidelines, try not to stray too far out of them. Here’s the key. Breeds - ••••• is numerous, •••• is fairly common, ••• is uncommon, •• is rare, and • is very rare.
Mutations – ••••• is almost always, •••• is common, ••• is uncommon, •• is rare, and • is very rare. Mutations key: Wings are wings. In Shatterglass wolves, the wings are bird-like feathered wings. The feathers follow the color rules of the individual breeds. Horns are horns along the spine/shoulders or on the head. They can be sharp or not, spiraled or straight, etc. Back horns cannot exceed four inches in length, and head horns must be proportional to the body. 2 tails are literally just two tails. They can be side by side or one on top of the other. This also includes a forked tail, and the fork can occur wherever you like. DT stands for dog trails such as floppy ears, a curly tail, or feathering. If you want a wolf to have a mutation that has three of fewer bullets, you must write a sample post for that character. Choosing a mutation with three bullets will add another 200 words to your initial 200 word sample post, for a total of at least 400 words. Two bullets will requite another 300 words, for a 500 word sample post. One bulleted mutations are available only upon special permission from staff.

Starter Breeds Your first character must be one of these three breeds, and you must have at least one character of one of these three breeds at all times, as they are supposed to be the most common breeds. You can have as many characters of this type as you want.
Reyt - ••••• - the most common wolf in Shatterglass. Not too far from modern gray wolves in shape, though sometimes a bit larger. Well balanced between speed and strength. Generally come in solid colors, some with simple markings. [simple markings - •••]. Generally pack oriented. Mid-thick coats. Basically, a jack-of-all-trades wolf.
wings - •• horns - •• 2+ tails - •• Dog Traits - ••• Aureus] - •••• - Larger and more muscular than the Reyt. Thick bone structure, thick coats. Generally solid colors in natural hues. Aloof around strangers, but happy among friends. Very heavily pack oriented. Calm, hard to ruffle. Very strong, but also very slow. Wings - •• Horns - •••• 2+ tails - •• DT - •• Rui - •••• - Smallest breed in Shatterglass. Often thinner in structure, but not always. Very short, with thin, close coats. Very outgoing, energetic. Often two-tone in color scheme, but not always. Pack oriented, but do not approve of being lorded over. Very fast and agile, but weak

Secondary Breeds And these are the secondary breeds, ones they can choose from for second characters. You can have, at most, five wolves from the secondary class, and they cannot all be of the same breed. Again, try to keep their personalities within the guidelines. Cruorem - ••• - The Cruorem are a breed descended from the Red Wolves of southwest America and northern Mexico. This is sort of ironic, because all Cruorem wolves are some shade of red, from delicate pink to the deepest crimson, almost black. They sometimes have markings, but almost always, these are in some shade of red, but can be white or black. They’re lean and slightly shorter than the Reyt, with larger ears and more narrow heads. They’re a high energy breed, and intelligent. But they’re often confrontational and insensitive with frightening tempers. As long as you don’t injure their pride, they make excellent friends. The breed has a high concentration of fire elementals, and tend to be very good with their powers.
Wings – •• Horns – •• 2+ tails – •••• DT - •• Caru - ••• - The Caru are probably the strangest wolves in Shatterglass. They have the build of an Iranian wolf, a racy looking creature from the Arabian Peninsula. They have longer heads, thin tails, and an almost jackal-like appearance. Almost all Caru are some variant of a typical wolf gray – gray mixed with black, white, and tan, often fading to cream on the underbelly, perhaps with some small, simple, and drably colored markings. Their eyes are brown or dull gold. They are very intelligent, but emotionally absent. They love experiments of all kinds, often social experiments, or studying the emotional responses of others. They are rarely physically harmful to their subjects, but can accidentally hurt them emotionally because they just don’t get it. They aren’t very societal, but often join packs to watch the social dynamics of a large group. When speaking, they’re analytical and blunt. There is only one thing that can change this. If a Caru wolf actually, genuinely falls in love with another wolf, they change. Dull coats suddenly, blindingly, change to a solid base with beautiful, colored markings. Blasé eyes yield to bright colors. Their personality breaks free from a scientific shell, and they develop into individuals – almost always into kind ones. Caru that have never loved [and there are many, and most just breed for genetic experiments or to help their population] see this transformation as unappealing, and tend to fight it if they feel it coming on. Pros Cons [before change] Intelligent emotionally absent, no empathy Precise Wings – ••• Horns – • 2+ Tails – •• DT - •• Dariae - ••• - The Dariae are the most dog-like of the breeds of Shatterglass. They are obviously wolves, but they have a very sighthound influenced body. They are as tall as the Aureus, but leaner, with racy bodies and short coats. However, they don’t lack in strength, and manage to balance out well with wrisy, compact muscle as opposed to the Aureus’s bulk. They have saluki-like ‘feathering’ on their tails and legs. This heritage lends them plenty of speed. But. They can be intimidating, with a powerful stride and aggressive movements. Many have horns on their head, shoulders, or along the spine. In contrast, the Dariae are generally the peacekeepers of the realm. They are kind and persuasive, wanting nothing more than serenity throughout the lands. They diffuse tense situations with the greatest of ease, and detest violence. They are often white, gray, or black, with distinctive and colorful markings.
Wings – •• Horns – •••• 2+ tails – • DT - ••• Ala - ••• - Tall, thin, and lithe, the Ala are mostly evolved from the maned wolves. They’re a generally happy bunch, but tend to be prideful, and rarely take mates outside their breed. They have the maned wolf’s mane and svelte figure, the long, narrow head, and the oversized ears. Their coats tend to have a solid base, often light colored, with small areas of intricate markings. Almost all Ala have wings, which weigh them down, but they can fly great distances due to light bones – which are fairly fragile. Those few without wings run at great speeds, and can go for long distances without a problem in contrast to the Rui’s sprinting.
Wings - ••••• Horns - • 2+ tails - ••• DT - • Gage - ••• - The Gage are the most cat-like of Shatterglass’s breeds. They are lithe and slim, with a canine head that is slightly shorter and stouter than the average wolf’s. Their tails are much longer, covered in short, close fur, and the tip is round and blunt. Their claws are semi-retractable. Often the Gage sport cat-like patterns – tabby, spots, tiger stripes, etc. Their feline traits, however, do not prevent them from being identified as wolves. They’re fairly new to Shatterglass, having come from a land where big cats dominated. They adapted and gained some more cat-like traits to gain an edge, but no actual cross-species breeding occurred. Their personalities vary greatly, with no particular traits standing out.
They rarely if ever have abnormal mutations [i.e., ask staff!]

Restricted Breeds And these are the restricted breeds. They cannot be joined without special permission from the staff, but are on here for reference.
Ferox - •• - The Ferox are feared. With good reason. All members of this breed have a split personality that changes with the phase of the moon. During the day and most nights, they are generally affable and realistic wolves, good friends, loyal, knowing how to keep secrets. They’re slightly smaller than the Aureus, but larger than the Reyt, though build like the latter. The thing that distinguishes them and warns others is a mark all Ferox have, the infinity symbol [∞] resting atop their head, between their ears. This is what marks them, brands them. Their dominant personality is aware of the other, the one that lay dormant all but three days a month. The first quarter moon, the half moon, and the last quarter moon. They trigger strange changes on any Ferox that is touched by their light. The infinity symbol (which is often in on several places on a Ferox’s body, but always between the ears) begins to glow. A strange power courses through their veins, akin to adrenaline, and it lends them great strength and speed, though they appear the same, save their glowing marks. It is then that the second persona comes out, unaware of the first, unaware of the past, only feeling and knowing one thing – an incredible drive to kill. Prey. Plants. Wolves. Other predators. It doesn’t matter. A Ferox on rampage will kill whatever its teeth can touch. Right before dawn, it will drop where it stands and the glow will fade, and the dominant personality will take over again. The only way to avoid a rampage is to restrain a Ferox beforehand with hickory wood. No one knows why hickory wood holds them, but when on rampage, they cannot break it. However, the hickory wood is incredibly painful to the Ferox, to touch it is to endure almost unfathomable agony. They rarely if ever have abnormal mutations [i.e., ask staff!] Illuminae - • - The Illuminae are sacred and rare, the true protectors of Shatterglass. They are reincarnated souls that have been blessed by the leaders of the Land Beyond the Veil, the Veil being the border between life and death, a feature visible off Shatterglass’s shore. They will appear as beautiful Reyt, Aureus, or large Rui, [basically, they appear as gray wolves of various sizes], are stronger and faster than any wolf of their build would normally be [though not too strong/fast], and are identified by their claws, of all things. Illuminae have claws that appear to be forged of metal – gold, platinum, bronze, or copper. The metal is the same color as the glow that clings to them at all times [gold claws = golden glow, platinum claws = silvery-white glow, bronze = bronze glow, copper= reddy-gold glow.] They very nearly always have large, feathered wings. [Only two known cases of Illuminae having no wings] If they have pups, however, they won’t be Illuminae, but a mix of the base breed they resemble [Reyt, Aureus, or Rui] and their mate. Illuminae are born to litters of pups of any breed, appearing oddly and out of place among the others, glowing faintly, placed there by forces unknown. They are kind and benevolent souls, with very strong powers, but they love peace and have no intense desire for leadership positions. While without pride, they are very noble and tend to be a little removed. They don’t make friends so much as add wolves to their list of those to protect, and will fight to the death for them, but they aren’t the type that would come over just for some fun. They take things very seriously, and rarely have lighthearted moments. The only time they remove themselves form their pedestal of responsibility? When they fall in love – then they’re very close. Wings - ••••• [non winged = beyond very rare] Horns - • 2+ tails - ••• DT - ••
